Mosquito Catcher: A Stylish and Effective Solution to Mosquito Problems

Combining Art and Functionality to Create a Unique Mosquito Killer

Mosquitoes are not only annoying but also carriers of dangerous diseases. Traditional mosquito repellent products often contain harmful chemicals, making them less than ideal for long-term use. Gong Qian, a renowned designer, recognized the need for a safer and more aesthetically pleasing solution. Inspired by the desire to turn mosquito products into home decor, Gong Qian created the innovative "Mosquito Catcher."

The "Mosquito Catcher" stands out from other mosquito killers by utilizing a physical approach to eliminate these pests. It targets mosquitoes by attracting them with carbon dioxide (CO2) and ultraviolet light. The product features four CO2 simulators at the top, which mimic human CO2 emissions to lure mosquitoes. Additionally, the ultraviolet lamp emits a wavelength of 360-400nm, further attracting mosquitoes. Once the mosquitoes are drawn to the device, a built-in suction fan pulls them into a pot located at the bottom, where they are dried out.

One of the key advantages of the "Mosquito Catcher" is its use of physical methods rather than chemicals. This makes it a safer and more environmentally friendly option for households. By seamlessly integrating functionality and aesthetics, Gong Qian has transformed a mundane mosquito killer into a stylish home accessory.

The "Mosquito Catcher" is made using advanced technology. The interior of the device incorporates a suction fan with a wavelength of 360-400nm, while the external material is made of PEEK, a durable and heat-resistant material. With dimensions of 250mm x 150mm x 150mm, the "Mosquito Catcher" is compact and can be easily placed in various locations within the home.

Operating the "Mosquito Catcher" is simple and user-friendly. Users need to insert the carbon dioxide simulator, insert the battery, and turn on the switch. The device is designed to be hassle-free, ensuring that anyone can use it without difficulty.

The "Mosquito Catcher" project began in April 2017 and was completed in September 2017 in Wuhan. Throughout the design process, Gong Qian and the design team, including Liu Mingde and Jin Hanlin, conducted extensive research on mosquito behavior and attraction methods. By combining their findings with innovative design principles, they successfully created a highly efficient and visually appealing solution to combat mosquitoes.

The "Mosquito Catcher" has received recognition for its exceptional design. In 2018, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Idea and Conceptual Design category. This prestigious award acknowledges the product's practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial standards. The "Mosquito Catcher" not only fulfills its intended purpose but also contributes to a better and safer living environment.
